API Usage Policy

Last modified: February 1, 2025

Regystra provides API access to allow Customers to integrate and consume their data securely. This policy outlines the acceptable use, limitations, and responsibilities of API users.

1. API Access & Authentication

API access is granted exclusively to Customers of Regystra. Each Customer is provided with a unique API token, which must be kept confidential. The Customer is responsible for securing and managing access to their API key.

We do not control who accesses your API data. If an API token is shared or misused, the responsibility lies entirely with the Customer.

2. API Rate Limits

To maintain system stability, Regystra enforces API rate limits. Customers may make up to 20 requests per minute. Exceeding this threshold may result in:

  • Rate-limiting or throttling of API requests
  • Temporary suspension of API access
  • Permanent revocation in cases of abuse
  • API rate limits are applied per API key. If multiple users from the same organization share an API key, their combined requests will count toward the limit
  • If a request exceeds the rate limit, the API will return a 429 Too Many Requests response. Customers should implement exponential backoff retry strategies to avoid disruption

Regystra does not guarantee API responses for excessive usage beyond this limit.

3. API Fees & Costs (For Customers)

Regystra reserves the right to charge Customers who exceed the fair usage limits. Any usage exceeding 10 requests per minute may be subject to an additional fee, calculated as follows:

Requests per Minute Monthly Cost (USD) Additional Fees
0-10 requests per minute Included FREE No additional fees
11-30 requests per minute $100/month $0.10 per extra request
31-60 requests per minute $250/month $0.10 per extra request
61-100 requests per minute $500/month $0.15 per extra request
101-150 requests per minute $1,000/month $0.20 per extra request
150+ requests per minute Enterprise Plan Required Custom pricing
  • Invoices for excessive API usage will be generated at the end of each billing cycle.
  • Customers exceeding 100,000 requests per month will be required to upgrade and pre-pay for additional usage.
  • If a Customer exceeds **10 requests per minute** fewer than 10 times per billing cycle, no charges will apply. However, **sustained overuse will be subject to billing**.

4. Prohibited API Activities

Customers may not:

  • Scrape, harvest, or use automated scripts to extract excessive data
  • Distribute or sell API access to unauthorized third parties
  • Use the API in ways that degrade service performance
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits or security measures

Violations may result in API suspension or account termination.

5. Security & Compliance

Customers must ensure that all API interactions comply with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR and CCPA. Regystra does not assume liability for Customer misuse of API data.

6. API Support & Availability

API uptime is not guaranteed. Regystra aims for high availability but reserves the right to perform maintenance or disable API services as needed.

For API issues, contact info[at]regystra.com.

7. API Versioning & Changes

Regystra may update, modify, or deprecate API endpoints as needed. Customers will receive at least 30 days' notice before major changes. It is the Customer’s responsibility to ensure their systems remain compatible with the latest API version.

8. Policy Amendments

Regystra reserves the right to modify this API Usage Policy at any time. Changes will be communicated via email or posted on our website. Continued use of the API after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
